01Chronomatic.txt First version of the automatic Autavia, with the name "Chronomatic" above the Heuer logo and "Autavia" above the date. This model was introduced in March 1969; later production models had "Autavia" above the Heuer logo, and the "Chronomatic" name was deleted. This chronograph is known as the "Jo Siffert" Autavia, having been worn and promoted by Swiss Formula One star Jo Siffert. Some refer to any of the Autavias with the white dial / black registers as a "Jo Siffert" model; the early Reference 1163T models appear to be the true "Jo Siffert" Autavias; some would say that the 1163T Chronomatic is the true "Jo Siffert" Autavia (as various photographs show him wearing this model). Whatever Mr. Siffert may have worn, we can be certain that the 1163T Chronomatic was the furst Automatic Autavia introduced to the public in March 1969. Photograph courtesy of TAG-Heuer, Inc.
