Heuer Carrera Reference 2447SN

(White Dial with Black Registers)

The Carrera 12, three register, manual-wind Carrera, is considered to be one of Heuer's design icons. Whether the standard version (white registers on white dial) or any of the variations, the clean design, and sporty look make the Carrera 12 one of Heuer's classics.

The Carrera Reference 2447SN (black registers on white dial) is sometimes called the "Holy Grail" of the Carreras. There's something about the contrast between the dial and the registers that makes this one special.

The purpose of this page is to present an in-depth review and examination of these Carreras. This page will present the various versions of the watch; it will also help our readers determine whether a dial is "original" or might have been refinished, whether parts might have been replaced, etc.

Shown above is the earliest version of the Reference 2447SN. Note the long, thin applied markers -- with a full set of 12 markers.

Note that the inner bezel is mis-aligned. [Question whether the "4" on the constant seconds register indicates that the dial has been refinished?]

This is the later version of the Reference 2447SN. Markers are shorter and fatter, with luminous dots replacing the applied markers at 3-6-9. Black inserts in the main hands.

Another sample of the later version of the Reference 2447SN.

Chrono second hand hes been replaced (should be black); main hands have been re-lumed.

Decimal version of the Carrera 2447SN. Plain hands (without black inserts) suggest that this is an earlier version.

Reference 2547 -- the Carrera 12 Dato, white dial with black registers. If many Heuer collectors think of the 2447SN as the "grail" Carrera, then this must be the "holy of holies". Very rare indeed.
