Forward to the Catalog for the Milou Collection
It is a daunting task trying to summarize the passion, the joy, and the endless enthusiasm, Porsche cars and related automobilia gave me over the years. No doubt, it has been a truly wonderful and fulfilling hobby, providing a sense of purpose and sincere happiness.
The present collection began about 9 years ago, a few months after I purchased my very first 911.
Like many Automobilia collectors, I began by purchasing small items to complement the 1968 light ivory 911L I owned: a factory “ski treffen” badge from that period, a complete tool kit, an ivory lackstift, a service and maintenance booklet.
Very quickly, I became interested (and a little obsessed) in these objects on their own, independently from the cars I was collecting. I loved the attention to details, the creativity, the quality of the material used, the amazing design.
I focused mainly on the brochures the factory produced from 1963 until 1973, but also collected period accessories, and all the marketing items the factory provided exclusively to Porsche dealers in Europe and in America. It soon grew into a real passion and a full blown collection, sometimes extending beyond the boundaries I had established myself when the item was just too interesting to pass up…
Although it is impossible for me to pick a favorite item, I’m very fond of the sample and color binders which are so rare to locate, the 356 silver model, a gift from Ferry Porsche to the factory driver Gerhard Koch in 1962, and the original suitcases, a factory accessory of which very few have survived to this day.
While collecting automobilia, I also restored and collected classic 911 of which a selection is included in the present sale.
Although they seem very similar in type, each model provided a very different driving experience and was very seductive in its own right. The 1970 2.2S transformed by private team owner and driver Andre Wicky in period into a 2.3 S/T, participated in many historic rallyes over the last few years, including the Tour Auto in 1996, the Coupe des Alpes, the Gstaad Rallye to name a few.
The slate gray 911 2.2S from 1971 has an amazing provenance. The car was a factory gift in April 1971 to its Swiss driver, Jo Siffert (Seppi). The factory removed the car from the production line and sent it to the works department where it was fitted with a prototype 2.4S engine and a sportomatic transmission. The original engine and transmission will be sold with the car.
Although I loved every item and 911 I owned, It is now time for me to move on to other projects. The collection is to be sold in the hope that passion (and not money) will prevail. Last but not least, I am very grateful to Marc de Siebenthal, Marco Marinello, the 911S Registry, Automobilia Auktion Ladenburg, Dieter Landenberger, and the many friends with whom I have shared this common passion over the years.
Thanks to Porsche, I have travelled in wonderful places, met extremely nice people, made a few friends, and truly enjoyed life.
