On December 10, 2019, Phillips held its “Game Changers” auction, in New York City.  In this posting, we will cover three of the watches that were included in the auction — two watches previously owned by John Glenn and a unique Monaco, made by TAG Heuer to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Heuer Monaco.

Results for the auction were as follows:

  • The LeCoultre “Lucky 13” watch (Lot 13), previously owned by John Glenn, sold for a final price of $62,500 ($50,000 hammer price plus a 25% buyer’s premium)
  • The Breitling Cosmonaute, Reference 809 (Lot 14), previously owned by John Glenn, sold for a final price of $156,250 ($125,000 hammer price plus a 25% buyer’s premium)
  • The Heuer Monaco “Piece D’Art” (Lot 50) sold for $81,250 ($65,000 hammer price plus a 25% buyer’s premium)
