On September 16, 2020, TAG Heuer introduced a new model, simply called the “Carrera Chronograph”.  It’s a 42 millimeter watch, powered by the Heuer 02 movement, with four choices of dials — black, blue, anthracite and silver (white).  I have been wearing the black model for the last 10 days, and this Photo Album will include some photos of this watch, as well images of the other three models and some of the predecessors of the new Carrera Chronograph.

For some background on the watch and my impressions, see Hands-On: The New TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, on Hodinkee.

The Carrera Chronograph (2020) — Black with Opaline Finish (CBN2010)

The Carrera Chronograph (2020) — Four Colors

Dials on four versions are black with opaline finish (CBN2010); silver with opaline finish and rose gold accents (CBN2013); blue with sunray finish (CBN2011); and anthracite with sunray finish (CBN2012).

The Predecessors — Vintage Heuer Carreras

The new Carrera Chronograph draws on many of its Carrera predecessors.  Here are three vintage Heuer Carreras, from the 1960s — Reference 2447S, first execution (eggshell) from 1963, Reference 2447 N, first execution from 1963, and Reference 2447N, second execution (from 1968).

The Predecessors — Calibre 1887 Carrera

The new Carrera Chronograph is the “lead watch” in a new series of chronographs.  Here is a Calibre 1887 Carrera, from 2010, which was the first Carrera to use the Calibre 1887 movement.  I worn this watch regularly over the last 10 years and it is one of my favorites.

The Old and the New

Here are a few more photos of the vintage and modern Carreras.  The vintage models are Reference 2447, from 1963 and 1968; the modern models are the Calibre 1887 from 2010 and Heuer 02 from 2020.
