On November 21, Watches of Switzerland released a Limited Edition Carrera (Reference CBN2018) and earlier today I received the watch that I purchased. We will be writing more about the newest Carrera, but this posting will include some photos released by Watches of Switzerland, as well as some live photos of my watch.
Key elements of the newest Carrera include:
- a true “Panda” dial, bright white with black registers, that takes us back to legendary Heuer chronographs of the 1960s and 1970s, including the Heuer Carrera (Reference 7753) worn by Matt Damon, as Carroll Shelby, in Ford vs Ferrari, as well as the three-register Carrera Reference 2447 SN
- the 42 millimeter case first introduced in September 2020, which I reviewed for Hodinkee — HERE
- the Heuer 02 movement, that has become TAG Heuer’s reliable workhorse, since 2017
- printing on the dial and inner bezel is silver, in the style of some Carrera chronographs from the 1960s
This version of the Carrera is available exclusively from Watches of Switzerland, and is limited to 250 watches – 125 on the stainless steel bracelet (priced at $6,450) and 125 on the leather strap (priced at $6,350).
Complete information about the watch is available through the Watches of Switzerland website.
